History

The Cayman Islands Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA) was established in 1998 and is  governed by the principles and values of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, however we do not discriminate in our operations because we believe that every persons is valuable and as such there should be no barriers in meeting the needs of humanity. Our function is one of volunteerism and we believe that individuals are generally compassionate to the needs of others and they will support organizations like ours because they are touched with the effects of human misfortunes.  Our desire is for you to join us in our effort to provides services to alleviate human suffering. One of ADRA’s significant role during a disaster is to collaborate with the Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) to facilitate and implement its Disaster Preparedness Plan. HMCI provides annual hurricane preparedness training for ADRA Cayman Islands, and all our volunteers are given an opportunity to attend these seminars to ensure that they can perform their duties effectively.

Over these years we have worked in various humanitarian efforts with the Government of the Cayman Islands, The Cayman Islands Red Cross and other local entities to assist with the restoration process before, during and after a disaster. Our work activities include the Central American Region, the Caribbean Region and when possible our migrant workforce homeland. We hope that people like you who have the same passion will join us in all our relief efforts. We urge you to go to our volunteerism link and fill out our electronic form.
